A safe space to understand yourself more deeply.

You don't need to have everything figured out to start therapy. I can help you make sense of difficult feelings, understand your relationships, or explore who you are and who you want to be.

Séverine Robitaille
I'm so lonely Why don't I fit in? Who am I? Why do I always do this? I feel overwhelmed I feel stuck Why can't I function normally? Why will the past not just go away? I don't like who I've become Something needs to change.

Can I help you?

Maybe those questions resonated with you or maybe you have others. You do not need to know what the issue is to come to therapy. Sometimes the reason for coming to therapy might feel obvious, such as a recent bereavement, trauma or a sudden change of circumstances. Other times it's just a feeling that something is not quite right, or you feel stuck or just a bit low.

I have worked with adults from diverse backgrounds across a wide range of difficulties, including anxiety, depression, and relationship challenges, but also trauma, abuse and complex emotional needs. I have helped many people explore difficult emotions and develop a clearer sense of self.

I especially enjoy working with young adults (20s–30s) who are questioning who they are and who are trying to get a better understanding of themselves, whether that's around gender, sexuality, career choice or cultural identity. It could be through navigating your family's expectations versus who you are or want to be, or making sense of belonging across several cultures. It could also be working through some unprocessed trauma from your childhood (abuse, bullying, neglect).

I also bring my extensive experience of working with orchestral touring internationally. I am knowledgeable about the pressures of performance and the difficulties arising from constantly travelling / an itinerant life.

If any of this resonates then do get in touch. I offer a free 20-minute introductory phone call so you can ask any questions you might have, and I can explain what the following steps would be.

What it's like to work with me

I work using a psychodynamic approach, which means that I believe our present actions are often connected to our past. In therapy we explore not only the issues troubling you now but also try to understand their possible roots in earlier experiences.

Clients have described me as caring, curious and attentive. I am interested in people and want to help you think about what you bring. Together we can work to help you understand yourself better and the experiences that shape you. This might be through letting your thoughts run free and say what comes spontaneously into your mind. You might even want to bring some dreams to explore... or just talk! Whatever you want to bring, however you choose is ok. The space is there for you. I am there to listen, in a non-judgemental way, although I might sometimes gently challenge your thinking.

Therapy can take time and so I believe that working long-term allows us to take things more gently, at your pace. However, this might not be possible, or this might be the first time you try therapy, and you just want to see what it's about. I am able to offer shorter-term therapy, usually around 12 weeks. This is something that we would agree on together when we first meet.

Our appointments are weekly at the same time and place. Where possible, I prefer to meet in person - there is something valuable about sharing a safe and confidential space, away from distractions of everyday life. This is not always possible and working online is a good alternative, which suits many clients. It might also be that we start online and later decide it would be beneficial to change to in-person sessions.
